The error message you are encountering "We've encountered a network error - please try again (sign in: 1017)" typically indicates a connection issue or problems related to the network. To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

  1. Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable and working properly. Try visiting a few other websites to confirm that your connection is functional.

  2. Firewall or Security Software: Check if there's any firewall, antivirus, or security software that might be blocking the NOOK for PC app from accessing the internet. If necessary, adjust the settings to allow the app through.

  3. App Update: Ensure that you have the latest version of the NOOK for PC app. Outdated software can lead to network errors and other issues.

  4. Reinstall the App: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the NOOK for PC app.

  5. Contact Support: If the problem persists, contact Barnes & Noble customer support for further assistance. They might be able to provide more specific help regarding the error code 1017.

I don't have Nook. I have a Sony Reader Daily Touch edition. I received a gift card for Barnes and Noble and before to download my purchased eBook, I researched it and was told that I could read it on my Reader. Unfortunately, I can't read it. I'm trying to read it since Christmas, but it keeps saying "Protected by digital rights management". I have authorized and reauthorized my PC and Reader numerous times but I still cannot open it. My reader and PC both say that they are authorized. Can you help me? I don't know what to do.

In order to fix the problem, you can use a DRM removing tool from Software Informer database, but my recommendation is to contact Barnes and Noble and explain the situation. You can get in touch with them using the Contact Customer Service page.

I'm trying to change the size of the font but without success. I can't get the Readers Preferences to save my choice. The sample looks great, but as soon as I get into my book, it goes back to the default size. Can you help?

Unfortunately, there are many books that use a fixed font that cannot be changed. If you can't change it from Settings > Reader Settings, then you can't do anything about it. Also, it's possible that your version of the application is an old one. In this case, I suggest you uninstall it and download and install the latest version from the official web page.
